SCRAP IT UP with Smudgy Antics

Welcome back for another challenge with Smudgy Antics!

The challenge theme this fortnight is
"SCRAP IT UP!"

Using at least one stamped image (real or digi), we at Smudgy Antics challenge you to use your leftovers.  It's the green thing to do.  Don't let anything go to waste!  You can use your paper scraps, but feel free to use leftover wrapping paper, paper rolls, gift bags, gift boxes and more from the holiday season.

BTW, starting today, you will always have 2 WEEKS to submit your projects.  Yep.  We are changing the weekly challenges to fortnight challenges to enable more of you busy folks time to play.

Here is my take on this fortnight's theme:

I have a bunch of scraps laying around.  Odd bits where I fussy cut images.  I used these bits to stamp and emboss my images.  I used leftover tag attempts from previous projects and ribbons from some of my gift packages.  The Santa hats came from various Christmas cards.  The pugs on the cards looked cute in their Santa hats, but I had a much better use for the images.  I used leftover transparency sheets and made stencils with my cricut so I could do the "ghosting effect" with my inks.

Most of the stamps I used are from Smeared Ink.
I used Edgar A. Poe and Raven Wings from the Quoth the Raven Set.  I am lucky enough to own this set in rubber and you can too if you join Smeared Ink's Rubber Club.  The Christmas Skeleton bodies are from a retired Smeared Ink set, "A Very Skelly Christmas".   On the orange tag, I used some misc cling stamps of unknown origin for extra embellishment.  They are most likely Inkadinkado if I had to guess.

FYI, for some reason if you heat emboss and use copic markers, the embossing smears.  I went with it because I don't mind a grungy look, but I thought I'd warn those that don't know about the smearing.  Perhaps I just need to change brands of embossing powder?  If anyone knows if ALL embossing powders smear with alcohol ink, let me know because if there is a brand that doesn't then I have some shopping to do.  Not only does the embossing color smear into non embossed areas, but the marker tips get stained as well.

The non scrap items I used were Dylusions spray inks, Copic markers, and Staz-on ink in opaque white and metallic silver.

Head on over to the Smudgy Antics' Blog for more inspiration and then get yourselves in gear and get crafting!

While Smudgy Antics offers awesome fortnight challenges, Smeared and Smudged offers month long challenges for those that may not have as much crafting time available. There are also monthly blog hops, matchbook and atc swaps, holiday swaps, etc.  If you join the forum you are sure to meet new friends and network with some very talented individuals.

CHEERS!
~ Lady B ~
I will be entering my Poe tags to the following challenges:
"Poe, Quoth the Raven": "Poe, Poe, Poe Merry Christmas"
"Simon Says Stamp and Show": Totally Mad, Anything Goes
"Eureka Stamps": "Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue"...New item, Puffy Paper Paint, Something old, Copic markers, embossing powder, rubber stamps, and paper scraps, Something borrowed...I used Santa Hats that I borrowed from a Christmas card, something blue...a Zig chalk marker and Dylusions spray inks.

Last Minute Shopping with Sparkle and Glitter

The big day is almost here.  Christmas is coming.
The question is, are you ready?

I'm not.  I must be the most "last minute" person ever!  I still have cards to make and gifts to finish not to mention the last minute shopping I have to do for the makings of Christmas dinner, outfits for the holiday parties, and last minute gifts to buy.

Over at the Sparkle and Glitter Challenge Blog with RSD, we would like to see YOUR last minute makes.  Be it a card or a present or a tag attached to a plate of cookies, the RSD EDT wants to see your take on LAST MINUTE SHOPPING or preparations for the holidays.

Here is my take on the challenge:

I used this lovely image, "ISABELLA, last minute gifts" from Rick St. Dennis.
Isabella is colored with Copic markers and Spica gel pens.  I'm wishing I would have colored her gloves a different color, but perhaps I can tweak that later.  The sky was made with three different shades of blue Distress Inks.  Tulip Puffy Paint was used for the snow.  After it dried, I blasted it with my heat gun to make it puff even more.  I saw this technique on one of my mates' blogs and had to try it for myself.  A word of warning when using this technique, keep your heat gun moving and don't hold it in one area for too long or you will scorch the paint and it will look like a toasted marshmallow.  Trust me on this.  LOL!  You can heat the paint from behind the paper to avoid scorching as that works just as well as heating the paint from the front.

My PP is from DCWV...an old Christmas pack that I've had in my stash for at least 3 years.  I added some recycled foam snowflakes on the side of my card with pop-dots.  I snagged them from a work gathering a few years back.  They were using the foam flakes as table confetti and were throwing it out so I grabbed a few handfuls knowing I could find another use for them.

I do hope you have time within this fortnight to play along with the challenge.  Please head over to the Sparkle and Glitter Challenge blog for more inspiration from my mates and to check out the sponsor and prize information.

Happy Holidays!

I used "hand wreath" from Smeared Ink's "Gothic Christmas" digi set.  I also used "demon baby" and "baby wants up" from Smeared Ink's "Babies of the Damned" digi set.  The jar of brains on the night stand is from the same set.  The eyeball was part of a baby's rattle from the set as well, I just took off the handle to have the eyeballs by themselves.  The candy canes are part of a digi scrap kit.  The Santa's hat and baby's room were pics found online and altered a bit.  Everything was colored and assembled in PSE8.  Only one more day left in the hop.  I can't believe Christmas Creepmas is almost here!

Cheers!

Day 10 of the 12 Days of Creepmas with Smeared and Smudged

Today is Day 10 of the 12 Days of Creepmas with Smeared and Smudged
You should have arrived here from The Smeared and Smudged Blog
and your next stop on the hop is Carolyn's blog

I will warn you, my project for today, once again, isn't too creepy.  Don't worry.  I will make up for that later!  There are 2 Days left.
 Here is my offering:

I used this very cool and super fun image from Smeared Ink.  It is new to the shop this month.  The image is called "Hand of St. Nick".
Anyone who knows me knows I loves me some zombies so when I saw this digi stamp I knew I had to have it!

The image is colored with Copic markers and Spica gel pens.  You can't tell in the pic, but there is a lot of shimmer in the prezzie and tombstone.  The sky is colored with distress inks and the snow is Tulip puffy paint that
I received from my gal pal, Kristy.  Thanks, girl!
I used papers from my stash, too many companies to list.

Happy Hopping!
Creepmas is on its way!

Smudgy Antics Challenge and The 12 Days of Creepmas Day 9

It is Monday so that means it is time for another challenge
over at Smudgy Antics.

The challenge theme this week
is a COLOUR CHALLENGE.

Not only do you get to be inspired by VINTAGE CHRISTMAS COLOURS, but the challenge will go on for TWO WEEKS!  Yep.  We would like you to be able to play along and also have time to spend with your loved ones over the holiday season so we are giving an extra week to complete the task at hand which is to use at least 3 of the colours in the bar below.  I know monitors vary with their colors so we have named the colors as well so you may get as close as you possibly can to the colour scheme at hand.
I dare you to try to use them all ;)

Using at least one stamped image (real or digi) and following the rules posted on the left sidebar, over at the Smudgy Antics Blog, we at Smudgy Antics challenge you to get your Vintage Christmas Colours on display!
Show us how crafty you can be!
You do not need to make a vintage project, just use the vintage colours.

You can stick with paper crafting or you can go three dimensional.  The more creative, the better.  We love it when you guys and gals think outside the box!

I am combining my Smudgy Antics project with my Day 9 of the
12 Days of Creepmas with Smeared and Smudged.  You should have arrived here from The Smeared and Smudged Blog and your next stop on the hop is Carolyn's Blog.  The full blog roll is in my left sidebar.

I will warn you, my project for today isn't too creepy.  Don't worry.  I will make up for that later!  Here is my offering:

I tried to use all of the colors in the block above.
I think I succeeded, or at the very least was very close.
I used a new Snowman from Smeared Ink called "Twice as Evil".  He has a few creepy friends in the shop too.  The image was colored with Copic markers and the background uses Distress Inks and Tulip puffy paint in white (thanks, Kristy).  I used various papers from DCWV and some cardstock die-cut letters. I have no clue where those came from.

Now it's your turn to get crafting and hopping!
Cheers!

The 12 Days of Creepmas with Smeared and Smudged

I'm Lady B.  Welcome to my blog!
As most of you know, I am involved in three Creepmas hops at the moment.  All of the information about the Creepmas hops and prizes can be found in the links below and the full Blog Rolls for each hop are posted in my left sidebar.

*** The only hop remaining is:
The 12 Days of Creepmas with Smeared and Smudged.

The Smeared and Smudged hop  goes live at 9 am PST.  If you are following this hop, your next stop is Carolyn.

Before posting my project, let it be known that my creation was made before the horrible tragedy that took place in Newtown, CT.  My heart goes out to all those affected by the senseless shootings at Sandy Hook Elementary School.  That being said, my project for today contains violent material with gore.  Although not related to the shootings, many may find this material too sensitive to view at this time.  Feel free to skip over my blog post.  I was debating whether or not to even post this, but I have been ill and I'm far too tired to make a new project.  I will give plenty of space so those that wish to skip my post may do so without seeing the project I created.  Also, just because I make creepy, scary, and sometimes gory projects does not mean I like or condone violence.

Creepmas Hops

I'm Lady B.  Welcome to my blog!
As most of you know, I am involved in three Creepmas hops at the moment.  All of the information about the Creepmas hops and prizes can be found in the links below and the full Blog Rolls for each hop are posted in my left sidebar.

The 13 Days of Creepmas, the Official Site (Day 13)

If you are following the Rick St. Dennis hop, your next stop is  Pauline's blog.  The RSD hop has prizes so be sure to check out Rick's  original blog  and his  "airless chambers blog" for details.  This hop goes live at Midnight PST.

If you are following  The Official Creepmas hop, your next stop is  "Something Wicked this way Comes".

The Smeared and Smudged hop  goes live at 9 am PST.  If you are following this hop,    your next stop is Carolyn.

Here are my offerings for today:

This first project was made with a fabulous Rick St. Dennis Image (Let's Have Brains for Creepmas) which I colored and textured digitally in PSE8.  The background is a pic I took and I added some extra twigs, spider webs, and snow flakes.
I wanted the zombie to look like he was breaking through the ground and of course I wanted him to look as evil as possible!

Next up is the same image in a scene I put together.  The exposed brick is from Make it Crafty, the presents on the left are digitally created while the gifts by the Christmas tree are real.  I love combining digi and real stuff to see what I can come up with.  The cutie in the pic is my wee nephew on his first Christmas.  I love how he is looking up at the Zombie!  I wish I would have made the zombie a bit smaller and more to scale in this one.  I spent a bunch of time after my 12 hour work day trying to fix it, but I had previously merged some layers and it turned out to be more effort than it was worth.  I still like the creation, although it doesn't feel finished to me yet.  I will probably try a few variations of this scene until I get it just the way I want.
LOL!  Should I put this in my nephew's baby book?
Just kidding!  I wouldn't want to traumatize the poor lad :)

I'll add the links later as I'm brain dead at the moment.
OMG!  I just realized this is the last day for the RSD and the Official 13 Days of Creepmas Hops!  If you haven't had enough creepy inspiration, the Smeared and Smudged 12 Days of Creepmas Hop continues on the odd days leading up to Christmas Creepmas.

Happy Hopping!

My first project was made with a digi stamp from Rick St. Dennis
I used "Merry Creepmas (full card version)".  I colored the image digitally and added it to a scrapbook layout.  I am thinking of making a scrapbook of all the projects I made for this hop.  I used digi papers and elements from Kitty Chen at Oscraps.  You can find some of her stuff in the freebie section as well as the clearance area.
----------------------------------------------------
I made this next project in honor of my gal pal, Tori.  Tori is the owner of Smeared Ink and runs the Smeared and Smudged Forum as well as the Smudgy Antics Challenge Blog.  In addition to that, she works full-time and is a mommy too.  I have no clue where she finds the energy to do everything she does.
Tori, here is my thank-you to you for always being there for me.
MWAH!
I used  "I see you Zombie" from Smeared Ink's  "Zombie Headshot" digi set.  This zombie is a zombified version of  Tori from a few years ago.  Her Zombie locks are waist length now.  I added a festive pink Santa's hat and put her in this lovely scene I found when I googled "Christmas Rooms".  I believe it came from a furniture website, but I don't remember which one.

Happy Hopping!

Here is my offering for the hops:
Can you believe it?  I did a hand's on project.
I know this isn't very creepy, but it is dark and anti-jolly.  I used a Rick St. Dennis, "Bah Humbug", and colored everything with copics and distress inks.  The only thing computer generated is the sentiment and my watermark.

This one is easy as can be as the theme is "DISTRESS IT".

I embossed Smeared Ink's "Angel" from their "As Death" set.
I am lucky enough to own this set in rubber.  You can own it in rubber too if you join
the Smeared Ink Rubber Club.  I used other miscellaneous stamps for accents.  For the color, I sprayed a bunch of Dylusion's Inks on the tag.  I also used Distress inks to paint the main image as well as to darken up the tag for a grungy look.  It's hard to tell, but I roughed up the edges with scissors as well.  There is some staz-on opaque white and metallic silver in the mix too.  Both projects turned out a bit dark.  I guess that is just the kind of mood I am in right now.

Go off to hop or get working on your distressed project to submit to Smudgy Antics.  You have until Saturday at midnight PST.

Cheers!

Perhaps later I will try adjusting the color or I may add some light effects.
For now, I'll call it good enough.  Hopefully I will have something better for your eyes tomorrow.

The twisted looking creature is "Devil Boy" from the "Creepers" digi set.

I know I just used this image 2 days ago, but I ran across this background picture with the perfect colors and had to replace the happy little tree in the photo with  the Creepmas Tree Monster  from  Rick St. Dennis.  Also, despite my efforts to avoid my sick husband all week, the illness has now hit me.  Between my 10 hour shifts at work and coughing up half a lung, I was just too tired to color a new image.  I will come up with something new  and hopefully awesome tomorrow.

CREEPMAS HOPS

I'm Lady B.  Welcome to my blog!
I'm trying to shorten my blog posts as much as possible.
As most of you know, I am involved in three Creepmas hops at the moment.  All of the information about the Creepmas hops and prizes can be found in the links below and the full Blog Rolls for each hop are posted in my left sidebar.

The 13 Days of Creepmas, the Official Site (Day 5)

I will start with my Day 5 project for the RSD and the Official Creepmas Hop.  The RSD hop has prizes so be sure to check out his original blog and his "airless chambers blog" for details.  This hop goes live at Midnight PST.

I had so much fun making this greeting card!  I found the background picture online from a home decorating site and knew I had to make something with it!  I used the digi stamp "Creepmas Toy Boy" from Rick St. Dennis, I colored and added texture to him in PSE8, and then added him to the scene.  Don't you just love the toy he received from Santa?

If you are following the Rick St. Dennis Hop, your next stop is Pauline's Blog.

If you are following the Official Creepmas Hop, your next stop is "Something Wicked this Way Comes".  The full hop lists are posted in my left sidebar.

Now onto the 12 Days of Creepmas with Smeared and Smudged.  Today is Day 3 for this hop as it posts on all the odd days leading up to Christmas.  This hop goes live at 9am PST.  Here is my offering.  Click image to enlarge.

I have made another Greeting Card for your enjoyment.
Once again, I found a gorgeous background picture on a home decor site.  It was too perfect so I had to alter it a bit.  I chopped off half of the picture and added my own touch to it.  I used digi stamps from Smeared Ink, colored them in PSE8, and added them to the scene.  I used "Serial Killer Santa", the sentiment, and "Santa's Bag" all from the "Serial Killer Santa Digi Set".  The cool thing about this set is that it contains a non-killer version of Santa as well as an empty Santa's bag, a traditional fireplace, several non-traditional sentiments, and a lot of wicked images.
The set is flexible so you can make naughty or nice Christmas cards.
I know the artist.  She's a pretty cool chic.  Strange, but cool.

If you are Hopping with Smeared and Smudged,
your next stop on the hop is Carolyn.  The full blog roll is on my left sidebar.

Happy Hopping!

I found an old, overly cute wooden Christmas ornament and decided to give it a Creepmas makeover.  I started with a base coat of white paint then stamped various Smeared Ink rubber stamps with a combination of inks.  The top image uses the Heart from the "Candy is Dandy" set and texture marks from both Quoth the Raven and Inky dreams.  The heart is colored with Copic markers, everything else is ink.  The second picture uses the Heart from "Quoth the Raven" and once again I colored with copic markers and inked splotches and hash marks with Inky Dreams and Quoth the Raven, all from Smeared Ink. The zombies are from my zombie bowling set and are just there to hold the ornament in place and to help disguise the fact that I suck at altering items. The Smeared Ink rubber sets are retired unless you are a member of Smeared Ink's Rubber Club in which case you can get all the rubber goodness.  If you are following the Smeared and Smudged Hop, your next stop is Carolyn.

Next up is my project for Day 3 of the 13 Days of Creepmas for the Official hop as well as Day 3 of the 13 Days of Creepmas with Rick St. Dennis.

I made a tag using Rick's "This is for You" digi stamp.  I hand colored the image with Copic markers, fussy cut him, and glued him to the tag.  The tag has loads of Dylusions inks as well as a few random stamps with Opaque White and Metallic Silver Staz-on inks.  A few random fibers and I called it done.  If you are hopping the Rick St. Dennis hop, your next stop is Pauline.

If you are following the official Creepmas hop, your next stop is "Something Wicked this way Comes".

Phew!  That was a long post!  Tomorrow's post will be much shorter.
  Thanks for stopping by!

~ You have reached the blog of Lady B aka Sniffing Glue Dots. ~

This year I am participating in 3 hops dealing with Creepmas.
I will put the info for all of the hops below.  Look for the hop you are following and read that section to find out where you go next on the hop.  If you have some time on your hands, why not check out all three hops?  To assure you don't get lost along the way, follow one blog path at a time.   I've listed the blog rolls in my left side bar for your convenience.

This hop takes place December 1st - December 13th. and goes live at
midnight PST on its scheduled days.
This is the first annual Creepmas Blog Hop for Rick and his EDT girls.  You will be seeing some of Rick's newest and creepiest images along the way.

I have a cute digital card for you today.
The background is from Itkupilli and the papers are from my stash.  What totally makes this project are the stamped images used to create the scene.  I used three stamped images, all from Rick St. Dennis.
I used The "Creepmas Tree" that was made for our dear EDT member, Gloria.  You can see that I used the poor "Sad Frosty" as well.  I realize he has an ax in his head, but I think he is too cute! Lastly, I used "Gimme Candy" from the Halloween section of the shop.  If Christmas trees and ornaments can be in the stores when I am trying to find skulls for Halloween then I can have a pumpkin candy bucket in my Christmas Creepmas Card.  Everything was colored and assembled in PSE8.  Thanks for stopping by!

Cheers!
