Smudgy Antics Weekly Challenge: REPTILE RAMPAGE

Welcome back for another challenge with Smudgy Antics!

The challenge theme this week is
"REPTILE RAMPAGE".

Reptile: 1.) Any various cold-blooded, usually egg-laying vertebrates of the class Reptilia (think snake, lizard, crocodile, turtle, dinosaur, or dragon).
Reptile:  2.) A person being regarded as despicable or treacherous.

Rampage:  Violent or excited behavior that is reckless, uncontrolled, or destructive.

We are asking you to incorporate the spirit of a reptile rampage into your project for the week.  There are several directions you can take this prompt.  You can use an image of a reptile or you can use papers or textures that resemble a reptile's skin, or in the case of a turtle, its shell.  You can throw caution to the wind and get reckless in the creation of your project by ripping, tearing, and distressing a project almost to the point of destruction while still maintaining an awesome piece.  This theme would be great for art journal pages too.  Show us, through your art, a time where you may have been reckless or on a rampage.  Too much?  How about doing a journal piece or ATC about someone or something you regard as despicable or treacherous?  If it is NOT EVIDENT as to how you used the challenge theme REPTILE RAMPAGE in your project, please explain it in your blog post.

Here is my take on the prompt:

I used "Dragon Love" from Smeared Ink's "Dragon Love digi set" as well as "Tiamat" from Smeared Ink's "Women of Power" digi set.
Everything was colored and assembled in PSE8.

design team gals.

Cheers!

Smudgy Antics Weekly Challenge: TIME STANDS STILL

It's Monday so it's time for another challenge with Smudgy Antics!

I know with the holidays fast approaching it feels like time is flying by at a dizzying pace.   Everyone is rushing around getting shopping done, planning parties, and buying presents.  Many will be celebrating their holiday of choice soon and before you know it we will be bringing in the New Year!

We at Smudgy Antics are asking you to slow it down a bit for this challenge.  Not only will time be slowing down, it will be at a complete stop because this week's theme is "TIME STANDS STILL".

Here is my take on the challenge.

I used a new image from Smeared Ink, drawn by our DT's very own Ike,  titled "Mirror, mirror".  It can be found here in the shop .  Papers: "Under a Blood Red Moon" by Crafty Chaos Designs.
Time piece embellishments: Itkupilli.  I altered the color.
The image was colored digitally and the card was assembled in PSE.

Head over to the challenge blog for a reminder of the blog rules and to see the wonderful creations of the DT gals.  A Smeared Ink gift voucher is up for grabs and there are, and will continue to be, new images in the shop.
Get your mojos on the ready and get crafting!

I almost forgot!  I used the card sketch from the "Very Sketchy" challenge on the Smeared and Smudged Forum.  In case you're not familiar, the forum has additional monthly challenges with prizes as well as monthly ATC swaps, blog hops, and much more!

Cheers!

Challenge #4 with Sparkle and Glitter: TWISTED HOLIDAZE

Today is my first posting as an EDT member for Rick St. Dennis’ Challenge Blog

TWISTED HOLIDAZE
This fortnight we’re giving you a chance to take a fun or freaky poke at the Holiday season.  Feel free to be a bit creepy or bizarre, but also have FUN.
You may use any holiday of your choosing.  The EDT has chosen the winter holiday season, but there are many other holidays to choose from.
Just make it obvious which holiday you choose to depict.

Rick St. Dennis has some fabulous images in his Etsy shop that are perfect for this challenge!  Whether you like the traditional or the downright creepy, Rick has something for everyone!  Why not use this challenge as a warm-up for the 13 days of Creepmas?  Want to know more about this?  The information can be found here

Our sponsor for this challenge is Smeared Ink.
If you haven't had a chance to check out the Alternative, Vintage, and Gothic Art stamps that this company has to offer, maybe  this is the time to do so.  One lucky winner is going to get the chance to go shopping for digi stamps with a voucher worth $15.00!

There will of course be the three projects chosen by the EDT to receive a prize of some digi stamps from Rick St. Dennis.

I was so excited about this challenge I went a bit overboard with the sample making.

This first project uses several of Rick's images.
and "I love my Prezzies".  The papers are from Crafty Chaos Designs which sadly is no longer in business and the backgrounds for the images are from Itkupilli.

My second project uses "2012 Creepmas Toy Boy" and some digi papers and elements from my stash.

My third and final RSD piece uses "Creepmas Toy Soldier".   This guy is a little freaky looking, but I love him!

I also made one project using the Sponsor's images.  From Smeared Ink I used "Serial Killer Santa" and "Santa's Bag" from the "Serial Killer Santa" set.  I also used "bats with garland" from the "Gothic Christmas" set.  The papers are again by Crafty Chaos Designs and the doors were freebies from Free Vintage Digital Stamps.
Everything was colored and assembled in PSE8.

SMUDGY ANTICS WEEKLY CHALLENGE: TWISTED SISTER

It is Monday so that means it is time for the new challenge over at the

The challenge theme this week is

 "TWISTED SISTER".
How twisted can you get?  We want to see your dark or naughty side come out to play.  There's no need to hide or be squeamish, we are all freaks here...at least that's what those in The Land of Magnolia say about us.
I wear my Freak Show Badge with pride and so should you (click this link to get your own freak show button)!  Heck, art is art.  I make gruesome things, but that doesn't make me a mass murderer.  It just means I am diverse in my creative process.  My mates make alternative works as well.  Come on, dive in and have some fun!  Screw the pretty, fluffy crap!  Save that for those other challenges.  We like it gritty around here...and TWISTED!

Here is my offering:

Smudgy Antics Weekly Challenge TIC-TAC-TOE 3 in a Row

Things are starting to settle down a bit here now that
The 31 Days of Halloween, Season 4, with Smeared and Smudged is finished.  Daily prize winners are listed here in the right sidebar and the grand prize winner is supposed to be announced sometime today!

We are back to business as usual for Smudgy Antics.  Being Monday, it is time for the new challenge to begin.  Don't forget, there has been a change in the rules so be sure to read and follow the rules posted on Smudgy Antics in the left sidebar in order to qualify for the coveted winner's badge and prize.

This week's challenge is a fun one.  Can I interest anyone in a game of
TIC-TAC-TOE?  Just pick any 3 items in a row from the grid below.  You can go up and down, across, or diagonally.  Please make sure to list which three items you have used in the making of your project and use at least one stamped image ("real" or "digi").

Here is my offering. Click images to enlarge.
I used the middle row going down (3D, Monochrome, & glitter).

I made a tag.  I'm new to tags and don't make them often, but I find them very fun to create!  I used "Skull Front" from Smeared Ink's "Anatomy 101" digi stamp set.  This is my favorite skull of all times to work with!  I printed the image out 6 times, fussy cut the layers, glued the layers with Silicone Household glue, and colored the top layer with copic markers.  The skull then had a good dunk in the melting pot.  I had one dented area from my tweezers, but a blast from my heat gun took care of that and evened out any bulges, chips, or mistakes.  The middle picture was taken on an angle so you can see the 3D effect a little better.

The tag is covered with awesome black and white papers that I got last year from my dear friend Helen.  Of course I ripped and distressed them a bit for a more monotone look.  You can't really tell in the pics, but I used MS Drippy Goo punch on the top, shimmery layer of black paper.  I added black danger and skull rub-ons from Creative Imaginations and the final touch was the awesome die cut spider that I received from Helen.  I coated the spider in Versa Mark embossing ink, coated it with black Zing embossing powder and heat embossed it two times.  While the second layer was still hot, I added touches of silver embossing glitter from Zing.  I added a close up so you can see the glitter.

Now that I think about it, I added fabric ribbons and fibers for the tassel of the tag.  If I would have added flowers, metal, paint and a doodle I could have made the whole grid.  Maybe I'll try that later ;)  Head over to Smudgy Antics for more inspiration from the Smeared Ink DT and then get crafting!

Cheers!
