THE 31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN

Tomorrow is the start of the 4th annual 31 day extravaganza hosted by the Smeared and Smudged Forum.  The month long celebration is
For the entire month of October, 37 bloggers (including myself) will be making daily art projects inspired by Halloween and/or The Day of the Dead.  The only requirement for the hop is that the projects MUST use at  least one stamped image ("real" or "digital" stamps qualify).

I will do my best to achieve my goal of posting a project
for each of the 31 Days of October.  The hop list is posted on my left side bar.
My projects will range from simple and quick to more elaborate and
time consuming.  You may find some cute and whimsical projects
on my blog, but I am more of a blood and gore type of gal so you may not want your little ones around while looking at my page ;)

There will be tons of prizes along the way from some amazing sponsors.

Cheers!

HDH152 Chain Me Up, Chain Me Down

This is my last week in the Dungeon.  My servitude is nearly done.
Soon another soul will be kicked down the rickety stairs to the dank pit below.  The Dungeon will claim another victim.

It's a good thing my term is coming to an end because my mojo has gone into hiding.  I imagine it's from all the lashings I've received and those darn kicks to the ribs.  They are a twisted bunch, those Minions, but I think I will miss their wicked ways.

The challenge this week at HDH Macabre Monday is
Chain Me Up, Chain Me Down.

Here is my humble offering:
I used "Slave Angel" from Smeared Ink's "The Symbology of Angels" digi set.
I clipped his wings off and extended his chains.  He is colored digitally in PSE8.  I added him to this wicked Dungeon scene which is actually a free screen saver found here.  I used the sketch below along with some digi papers from Crafty Chaos Designs and some digi chain to create my card.  Obviously, I flipped the sketch.

I'd like to add my project above to the following challenges:
I{heart}2 Stamp: Sketch Challenge - I used the sketch above.
Addicted to Stamps: Autumn colors + stamped image (I used both)

Next, I have an additional project.
I made this piece just for fun.  It was my first thought when I heard the title of the challenge "Chain Me Up, Chain me Down".  Yes, I have a naughty mind!

I used "Bow Down" and "Spreader Bar" from Smeared Ink's "FemDom" digi set.
The images were colored with copics and scanned to my pc.  From there I  added them and the sentiment to this cool dungeon scene.
I will add this piece to these challenges:
Stamp and Create: Anything goes
Make it Monday: Anything goes
Love to create: Anything goes
Art with No Boundaries: Anything goes

Head off to the HDH blog to see what the Minions have in store for you.
Cheers!

Smudgy Antics Weekly Challenge: BLACK BIRDS

This week's challenge theme at Smudgy Antics is
"BLACK BIRDS"

This should be super easy!

Just incorporate a black bird of some type, real or mythological, and use a stamped image somewhere on your project.
You may use rubber, clear, or digital stamps.

Here is my creation:

I used "Raven 2" from Smeared Ink's "Quoth the Raven" digi set and
"Open Bust" from Smeared Ink's "Gross Anatomy" digi set.
The background is from a collage sheet by Itkupilli.

Everything was digitally colored and assembled.
Head over to the Smudgy Antics Blog for more inspiration from the Smeared Ink Design Team.

While Smudgy Antics offers awesome weekly challenges and prizes, the Smeared and Smudged forum offers month long challenges for those that may not have as much crafting time available. There are also monthly blog hops, matchbook and atc swaps, holiday swaps, etc.  If you join the forum you are sure to meet new friends and network with some very talented individuals.

I'm Still Locked-Up in the Dungeon with HDH151

Macabre Monday HDH151 "I'm melting!"

*Please see the sidebar on the HDH blog for the HDH Macabre Monday Rules*
(Note: entries not following the guidelines are not eligible for prizes or badges)

Okay, macabre fans... your challenge this week:
HDH151
"I'm melting!!!"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that has something to do with
melted wax, candles, witches, or melted flesh.
The possibilities really are endless with this one.
It's time to start tapping into your Halloween spirit,
and create something seasonally spectacular!

Let's see some inspirational examples from the Minions to get your mojo flowin'.

Here is my offering:
I used one of Smeared Ink's images, drawn by their newest artist, Ike.
The image is Succubus #4 from the Succubus digi set.

Here is what she looked like before I got my hands on her:
She is gorgeous...or was.  LOL!

I had grand ideas of making the succubus look like she's melting.
I'm not sure if I've succeeded as my PS abilities are well below where I want them to be.  This was my first attempt at this effect.  I'm sure PS experts will laugh at my results, but one cannot learn if one is afraid to try.
I put on my big girl panties, shouted "Fuck it" into the dark, echoing halls of the Dungeon, and I mustered the courage to try to bring my idea to life.

I colored the succubus in the colors of flames, attempted the melting effect, and put the succubus in a background of fire.  The papers are from Crafty Chaos Designs.  Every time I use Susan's papers I think of her. I roughly followed the sketch from the "Very Sketchy" challenge on the Smeared and Smudged Forum. You can see I moved the sentiment, but other than thatI followed the sketch pretty closely.

Head on over to HDH Macabre Monday and see what the Minions have in store for you.  This is a command, not a request ;)

Cheers!

The Crafting Pad: Autumn Colours.  I used red, yellow, and orange.
Challenges for Everybody: Anything Goes

Smudgy Antics Weekly Challenge: COLOR CHALLENGE

This week at Smudgy Antics, we have a COLOR challenge for you.  Use at least three of the colors in the sample below.

Here is my humble offering:

Sorry about the watermark through my image, but unfortunately there are folks out there that are stealing peoples' projects and card fronts and giving them away as free printable items on pinterest and some are even selling card fronts obtained in this manner on etsy.  It's a shame we can't just make and show art without worrying about theft.

I used the image "Skull Keeper" from Smeared Ink's "Dragon Love" digi set.
Everything was colored and assembled in PSE8.

Playing in the Dungeon - HDH150 "Oh My Gourd"

If you are looking for my Smudgy Antics posting, please scroll down to HDH150
"Oh My Gourd!!!"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that utilizes, mimics, infers, or is otherwise obviously
gourd or pumpkin inspired.

We have a wonderfully creative and timely sponsor this week!!
Funworld's Floating Pumpkin Hangers
These are called Floating Pumpkin Hanger kits.
Very cool concept and pretty simple to put together.
These look awesome in a grouping and the website has lots of
photos and design ideas. They are available through Spirit,
Amazon, and possibly other online retailers. A simple Google search
should help you locate them in your area. They even have a Face Book page

I have survived another week in the dungeon as GDT for HDH.
I was given one of the hangers above to try.
They are super cool!  I think I may need a bunch of these so I can cluster my hanging pumpkins from my tree.  Of course I would use fake pumpkins so the squirrels wouldn't eat them and I would add remote controlled battery operated lights so I could illuminate the pumpkins with a click of a switch.

After a few botched attempts, I finally managed to carve a pumpkin that I am proud to display.  Amazingly, I only cut myself once!  I stabbed myself a few times, but those were only little pokes so those don't count.  I cannot take credit for the stencil, only the carving.  The stencil was purchased at Stoneykins. I'm sure if you saw the stencil I used for my piece you would see the flaws, but I think it turned out pretty darn good for a newbie carver.

Here is my offering:
There is a pumpkin in the picture, suspended from my ceiling in my basement bar, but taking a photo with a flash took away from the carving that I spent way too many hours on.  At least you know that the hanger will blend in with the night sky or a darkened room.

Now head on over to HDH Macabre Monday and see what the other Minions have made for your viewing pleasure.

Cheers

Smudgy Antics Weekly Challenge: SUGAR & SPICE

We could really use some more participants
over at the Smudgy Antics' Blog.

The challenge theme this week at Smudgy Antics is

"SUGAR AND SPICE"

Here is my humble offering:

I used two new images from Smeared Ink drawn by our dearest Ike, the newest artist for Smeared Ink.  I used Succubus 4 and Succubus 5, which I've renamed Sugar and Spice for the purposes of this challenge.  The entire set can be purchased here.  With these two otherworldly chics is "open bust" from Smeared Ink's "Gross Anatomy" digi set.

Everything was colored and assembled in PSE8.
I used this sketch

from the "Very Sketchy" challenge over at Smeared and Smudged.
While Smudgy Antics offers awesome weekly challenges and prizes, the Smeared and Smudged forum offers month long challenges for those that may not have as much crafting time available. I'm Playing in the Dungeon this Month! HDH149

If you are looking for my Smudgy Antics post, please scroll down
to the next post or click here.

I was lucky enough to become a guest Minion in the Dungeon over at Haunted Design House this month.

I was thinking they would break me in easily, but I was wrong.

The torture has started in full force!

I now fully understand the meaning of Macabre Monday as it has been singed into what little brain I have left.

My first challenge with the Minions proved to be the hardest challenge of all times for me.  I came prepared for blood and gore.  I was ready for the creatures of the night.  A spell or two would not have thrown me off guard, but what the Minions asked of me was almost too much for my feeble mind.

This week's challenge, HDH149, is "Bare Bones" or in common speak, Clean and Simple.  Ohhh!  The Horror!  I tried to escape this task, but they had my shackles chained to the brick wall.  Escape was not an option.

Here are my humble offerings:

I used Smeared Ink Stamps from the "As Death" set.  I am lucky enough to own this set in rubber, which is now retired.  No worries, you can pick-up the digi set here.  I stamped with Versa Mark embossing ink, added Zing black embossing powder, and heat set the image.  Only black and white cardstock was used and of course, no embellishments.
~
I'd like to enter my first piece into the following challenges:
Tammy's Scrapin Corner: "Anything with Wings"...see above comment.
That Craft Place: "Black and White"...I used the color scheme.
~
Here is a second project I made.
The lashings stopped after submitting this one.
I used "Half face Zombie" from Smeared Ink's "Zombie Headshot" digi set.
He was originally colored with copic markers, but I tweaked him a bit in PS to add a bit of texture to his decaying skin.

I would like to enter my second project into the following challenges:

Make it Monday: "Anything Goes"
Paper Pretties: "Make a Square Card"...My card is square.

Okay, macabre fans... your challenge this week:
HDH149
"Bare Bones"

You are to create a dark, Gothic, or Halloween-based art piece
that uses NO dimensional embellishments. That's right.
No rhinestones, no pearls, no ribbons, no chipboard.
Pretty much a clean and simple layout. It doesn't have to be
a single layer card, but no bumpy bits.

Good luck with your task.

Head over to HDHMM for more inspiration from the Minions.

Cheers!

Smudgy Antics Weekly Challenge - TIC-TAC-TOE

The challenge theme this week at Smudgy Antics is

"TIC-TAC-TOE 3 IN A ROW".
Pick any three items in a row going across, down, or diagonally from the grid below and make a project with it.

My mojo has left me.  I really do need her to return soon as I have lots of crafting that needs to get done this month!  For my challenge project I chose to use fiber, embossing, and sparkle.

I used one of Smeared Ink's retired rubber sets "Inky Dreams" and I added one of Smeared Ink's digis, "Dr. Doctor" from the "Creepers" digi set.  I used homemade stencils and Dylusions spray inks for the base of the tag.  All the words and blobs and splotches (from the Inky Dreams Set) were  stamped with Versa Mark embossing ink, coated with various Zing embossing powders, and heat set.  I even used some glitter embossing powder.  That stuff is Messy!  I added fibers to the top of the tag and I'm calling it done.

If anyone finds my mojo, would you kindly send her back home?

Head over to the Smudgy Antics Blog for more inspiration
and then go and get crafting!
